Funny PUG Thread
So Aacr is in Sunken Temple last night with a group. Ood of Uldaman is tanking for us.

Overall things are going pretty well (there was one case where Ood apparently didn't notice that the dps didn't have everything down yet and went to attempt to solo a larger pull than she was capable of), but no issues of note.

Until... the Flurry Axe drops. I didn't care for two reasons: it isn't something that Resto Druids can/would use and Mel actually has one in his bank for sentimental reasons. The proc makes it sound cool, but it isn't like you are going to be using it very long.

So the warrior in the group rolls need. And dear Ood freaks out. Says their is no reason to continue with that person in the group if he is going to ninja everything (it seems only fair to point out that Ood is fully decked out in heirlooms including the tanking sword). The rest of us, who are only there for the XP, decline to kick him out.

At this point, Ood loses it, bubbles, pulls everything she can find, and drops group.

The positive: I finally figured out how to find the instance portal. I had always gotten lost on the way there but I see how the pattern works now.

RE: Funny PUG Thread
Two more stories:

1) Aacr was in Nexus. We had an inexperienced lvl71 tank who had brought along a lvl80 Paladin from her guild to DPS (he was totally decked out in Prot gear). Everything went well until the Crystal Grove part when she pulled too much stuff at once. She and the other dps went down fast. The only ones who didn't die were the Paladin and me. It took him awhile but we got everything down and were able to rez the other party members.

2) I decided to farm Tears of the Vanquished from normal ToC for Mel. First Attempt: Everything went fine but it doesn't drop. I don't think I was ever below 95% mana with the bear tank. Second Attempt: We get a warrior tank with a defense rating of 470 who had never seen the instance before and couldn't hold aggro at all. After a wipe on the Horde Champions because someone aggroed them too soon, we managed to get them down. We wiped when the boss summons her add. After explaining to the tank that you tank the add and not the boss during that phase, we got the add down. At this point, one dps leaves declaring we will never finish. I tell the tank that if she can keep the adds off everyone, I can keep her alive. 3 people died during the fight (including me) but two survived and killed the Black Knight. Needless to say, I was pleased by the outcome even with all the problems.

RE: Funny PUG Thread
Hmm. I still don't really have any funny pug stories.

Is it DtK that has two entrances pretty close together? Half the group always seems to go in the wrong one (including me). Luckily once you rez you can just tp out and back in and be back at the right place to hook up. And since the ramp on the well is on the other side it is easy to tell where you are. Evidently there are people who still haven't found that you can TP out of instances you have joined via LFD. Roszdhu is getting very tired of explaining that one.

RE: Funny PUG Thread
I am not sure if mine would be funny to everyone, but they are to me. I noticed that Ood is now 80. I keep meaning to ask her if she is still upset over the Flurry Axe. Judging by her reaction, it is quite possible.

I figured out about that multiple entrance trick in Maraudon. I was running the orange portion but when we wiped, I only found my way to the purple (the secret: keep doing down until you can't go any further). Then I ported out, and back, and I was back in Orange. I think the group still broke up, though, because too many of them were still confused.

RE: Funny PUG Thread
The secret in Mara is really looking for the orange crystals vs the purple crystals. *grin* And then the portal to the waterfall in between. I hope Rig gets to finish Mara but I think he has gotten too high for it. He got stuck on orange so many times.

RE: Funny PUG Thread
I think the first time Aacr complete the 3rd phase was just because the group continued on to the waterfall at the end of the orange section. She didn't run it too many times, though, because a couple of ZF runs got mixed in. And she started getting Sunken Temple just as soon as she was in range.

It is a very strange instance design, which is kind of odd because it wasn't even part of the original game (it was added in patch 1.2). The whole rock monster thing is so similar to Halls of Stone/Lightning - I think it would be safe to assume that some of the same people worked on both.
